Project Overview

The project involves the upgrade and replacement of aging equipment and infrastructure. The substation was built in 1907 and has served the area for more than 100 years. While well maintained, equipment such as the transformers, switches and breakers are now nearing end of intended service life. The construction scope of work consisted of repairs and modifications to various substation components, including:

• Installation of high-capacity transformers and feeders
• Modernizing the substation while preserving historical components in the final design
• Connecting the substation to the new networked system

• Historic Preservation Act classification due to the building's age

Our Role

CAP is providing quality control and supervisory oversight on behalf of the client. Key functions include:

• Liaison between EOR (Engineer of Record), Site Construction Manager and Client
• Troubleshoot issues as they arise on site and provide suggestions and solutions
• Responsible for RFI development, execution and RFI log maintenance
• Develop and maintain Change Order Log as it pertains to RFI and out-of-scope items
• Weekly billing and change order finance meetings with client regarding approvals and billing
• Manage installation, coordination and testing of wire and cable to GIS breakers, LCCs, VDC and AC panels, ATSs, relay panels, station services and more
• Create, maintain and provide Megger test sheets and quality turnover packages to client
• Provide support to equipment installation and testing
